The Shape of a Mother

"Take unaltered pictures of your body-ALL of it from the time you start being pregnant, while your pregnant with that cute bump and AFTER?"
The after part had me in shock! I couldn't even imagine doing that online for the world to see. After reading the article in Fitness Magazine called Body Confidence 2.0 (may 2008) and then looking up some of the blogs they discussed I think its wonderful that these women show it like it is! The Shape of a Mother is one of the sites I love. These women show the "secret" post-baby body. What a great way to show non-moms what to expect. Its so honest and real and it helps destroy the "the perfect body is a run way model" image. How many celebrates are back down to their size 1 jean within days of having a baby thanks to the c-tucks (c-section with a tummy tuck!). That's not real-and why should woman think that all of us will pop into our pre-pregancy clothes with in days! Don't get me wrong, I love photoshop with the next girl....remove a zit, fix my hair, thin me out a little. But now the norm in print is a digital version of what is really there. Even our "perfect" models are having things blurred/removed/enhanced or decreased. This is scares the crap out of me, all those poor girls who think that they need to look like that, when THAT isn't even real.

So what do I think of the shape of a mother site, or the many blogs that have REAL women posting unaltered REAL pictures of themselves--

So GOOD FOR THEM!
